Today is...

I can't believe it has been 4 years. Yes 4 years since Lt and I went on our first date. Some of you will think this is nothing and not a big deal. I am here to tell you it is a huge gargantuan deal!

You see, I was previously married at the age of 19 and divorced at 26. As a young woman, this played hell with my psyche. Still does today if you want to know the truth. It is something I am still dealing with and will continue to deal with since it will pop up at different times. One of the issues I dealt with for a long time was abandonment. I would do anything to be the first one to end the relationship before they did it to me (and like it was done in my 1st marriage). Because of this, I did not really want a relationship and the ones I did have only lasted about 3 months and to be honest, not quality keepers.

I had my sister and bro-in-law, my family, job so I was pretty good with the way things were. But there comes a time, as always, that we grow up, or grow outside our box and need something more. This is what happened to me. So I tried and after a few frogs and frogs that were disguised as princes, but were still frogs, in walks Lt.

Our first "trip" and my favorite picture of us.
He never smiles so this is rare treat!
I remember when he wanted my phone number and I said something like "what the hell, let's see where this leads." Remember I was getting pretty jaded at the whole "dating scene" and ready to throw in the towel. He just popped up out of the blue.

We meet at a Genghis Grill, locally. I have always been the type of girl that was extra careful. Too many wackos out there! I met him there and we proceeded to have a great time at dinner. He was so cute and funny. I really didn't' want the evening to end. And then it happened. He asked to continue the date at the Londoner in Dallas. Well, that meant I had to drive with him (or vice versa). That was a no-no in my books. So what did I do? Yep, I jumped in his car and said "Let's go!".

Since that day, we have been together. 4 years. Wow. I am so glad I took a chance, got his number, and went on a date. He really is one of the best men I know, pure quality. That doesn't mean he is perfect or we don't tiff now and then. That is natural and I think it is growth for us.

Our first "trip" to Houston and putt putt by the beach.
We try to go back every year!
Here is the scary thing…he is just like my dad! People tell you, you will marry a man like your dad. I said no way! Well, that came back to bite me on the patootie! LOL

So here is to 4 years! Congrats to us!!
